Work on the Mary Rhodes Pipeline Phase 2 Project is moving along quickly toward completion during the summer. Garney Construction is building the 41-mile pipeline and Oscar Renda Contracting is building pumping faclities that will take water from the Colorado River at Bay City. Freese and Nichols is providing engineering services and construction management.
The pipeline will deliver Colorado River water through the new pipeline and the Mary Rhodes Phase 1 line to customers in the Corpus Christi Bay area including the San Patricio Municipal Water District. The region owns the senior water rights to 35,000 acre-feet per year of "run of the river" water in the Colorado. The pump station, including sedimentation basin, is being built beside the river on the north side of Highway 35 just west of Bay City.
